The question was -
Can you put the eight (8) Directors of MIV-Mount Loretto in chronicological order?
Answer -
The names of eight Directors of MIV-Mount Loretto from 1888 to 1982 were:
1888 - Reverend James J. Dougherty brought to fruition the many of the plans of Father
Drumgoole, including building of the Mission Church of Saints Joachim and Ann.
1905 - Reverend (later Monsignor) Mallick Fitzpatrick directed the Mission for 31 years, during
which St. Aloyisius School was completed, the Central Dining Hall built, and the Infants Home
(Duval Cottage) was opened.
1936 - Monsignor Patrick A. O'Boyle became the 4th Director. Intake into the Mission was
broadend to include delinquent children, girls, and other races.
1943 - Monsignor John J. Corrigan was the fifth Director. During his term, the Gym, the new
administration building, and Sacred Heart Villa were built.
1956 - Monsignor Robert Brown was the sixth Director. During his tenure, construction was
completed on the Staff residence and the Trade School.
1961 - Monsignor Henry J. Vier discontinued the farm, opened the swimming pool, and began
the Group Home/foster Home programs.
1969 - Monsignor Edmond F. Fogarty was the eighth director. His years reflect the rebuilding of
the Church after the first fire.
1982 - Monsignor Robert A. Arpie was appointed Executive Director by Cardinal Cooke.
